GUIDELINES FOR CONSUMER GENERATED CONTENT CONTESTS

This precedent provides guidelines that can be included in contest/sweepstakes rules where entrants are required to contribute content in order to enter or participate in the contest (e.g., for essay, photo and other similar consumer generated content contests or to receive additional entries).  It is important for contest sponsors to include specific guidelines in contest rules for such contributions (e.g., to ensure that entrants’ contributions do not, for example, contain offensive content or that may be subject to 3rdparty intellectual property rights and that give the sponsor broad rights to re-use entrant contributions, including for marketing purposes).  2 pages.
